Tasting Notes
Colour: Solid, dense, vibrant ruby.
Nose: Rich, ripe raspberry and plum fruits followed by chocolate and quite
prominent mint undertones - subtly enhanced by hints of spice and oak, with a
mineral undertone.
Palate: Red fruits follow through from the nose, with hints of chocolate and
vanilla; tannins are firm but velvety; exceptional balance between acid,
tannins and fruit. Lingering aftertaste with a touch of minerality. Extremely
elegant wine that depicts the distinctive terroir characters for a true
Vergenoegd Merlot!
Blend Information
92% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon
In The Vineyard
Planted on alluvial soils along the Eerste River, these vines grow well. They are trellised on a four wire Perold trellis system and are pruned back to two eye spurs. To restrict yield and promote light penetration for better colour, we practise an extensive summer canopy management program. The oldest vines are 16 years old and supplementary irrigation is given when necessary.
