John Faure, owner/winemaker has turned a childhood passion for all feather friends into an interesting hobby, adding to the non-invasive farming practices used at Vergenoegd.

The Vergenoegd duck parade is well known to regular visitors to the Estate. The Indian runner ducks are on view as they march off to forage for snails and insects in the vineyards, under the watchful eye of their herder, Ferral.

Visitors can also visit the Vergenoegd duck pens and "breeding room" where Dina will show those interested what duck farming "looks and feels" like.

The Estate further is the habitat for a variety of bird life. Ornithologists are welcome to make use of birding opportunities on the Estate.
